David Ball caught the theatre bug at a young age, performing in his elementary school plays and at local theatres such as Kempenfelt Community Players, South Simcoe Theatre, Theatre by the Bay and Talk is Free Theatre (TIFT). It’s no surprise to those who know David that he is now a top triple threat – singing, dancing and acting in shows across Ontario.

During his time at St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School in Barrie, David was heavily involved in athletics, the student union and, of course, theatre. He describes his time at the school as inspirational, “I have to say that I would 100% not be where I am today personally and professionally without the education, support, and opportunities that I received while I attended St. Peter’s.”

After graduating in 2009, David pursued his passion at Sheridan College, studying musical theatre. He’s gone on to perform four seasons with the Shaw Festival in Niagara including shows like Sweeney Todd, Guys and Dolls, Cabaret, and Sweet Charity. His undeniable talent has not only impressed his cast members and audiences, it’s also won him the Brian Linehan Triple Threat Award, an incredible three times.

Despite his busy schedule, David always seems to find time to give back to the place where it all began. You can still find him at St. Peter’s conducting drama workshops and guest directing rehearsals for whatever play or musical the school is working on.

You can catch David at his next gig – performing in the production of Me and My Girl at the Shaw Festival.
