St. Joseph’s Catholic High School
From a young age, Matt Beleskey put countless hours into practicing his passion and gift at the hockey rink. His hockey skills developed throughout his minor league career, playing for the Barrie Icemen AAA program of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and then onto the Collingwood Blue’s Jr. A team of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). He is a prime example of how practice pays off.
During his time at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Barrie, Matt was drafted by the Belleville Bulls in the second round of the 2004 Ontario Hockey League’s Priority Selection. He was fortunate to spend four years with the Bulls and tallied an incredible 90 points in his last year.
In 2006, the year he graduated from St. Joseph’s, Matt was selected by the Anaheim Ducks as the 112th pick of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Entry Draft and turned professional in 2008. He made his NHL debut in the 2008/2009 season, appearing in two games with the Ducks, but spent most of the season in the American Hockey League with the Iowa Chops.
In 2015, Matt was an unrestricted free agent and signed a five-year contract with the Boston Bruins where he remains today.
