Veterinarian who achieved a perfect score on the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE) – only four students in the history of the exam have accomplished this feat.

St. Theresa’s Catholic High School
Graduated 2009

Growing up with two veterinarians as parents, Rose Rumney knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals. Spending hours volunteering at the Midland OSPCA and working as an assistant at her parents’ veterinary clinic, Rose was certain that a career in veterinary medicine was for her.

Rose spent four years at the University of Guelph completing an Honours Bachelor of Science with a major in Animal Biology before being accepted to the notoriously competitive Ontario Veterinary College. Amidst the intense study and work schedule, Rose travelled with Global Vets to Thailand at the end of her second year and worked in an elephant sanctuary, wildlife centre and a dog shelter.

In 2017, Rose became the fourth student to achieve a perfect score on the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE) out of the 54,000 candidates who have taken the exam in the past 16 years.

Rose is now working as a mixed animal veterinarian in Peterborough, Ontario and works with a wide variety of species, including cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, cats, dogs and more.
