Jon certainly left his mark at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School. In addition to being active in sports and the arts, he was also involved with student council and maintained honour role grades.

Throughout high school Jon participated on numerous sports teams and was named junior athlete of the year in Grade 10. Jon also demonstrated impressive theatrical talents when he scored the lead role in the school’s musical production of Grease. His enthusiasm and participation did not go unnoticed by his peers and in Grade 12 he was elected student council president. He graduated in 2007 with honours and received an award for his leadership and spirit.

Following graduation, Jon attended the University of Ottawa and was eventually elected valedictorian of his graduating nursing class. With his nursing degree in hand, Jon moved to Sioux Lookout, Ontario to work in a hospital. There, he became interested in working with Canada’s First Nations people.

Jon is currently employed with Health Canada providing much needed medical support to fly-in reserves in northwestern Ontario. Jon has plans to further his education by pursuing a bio-medical degree at the University of Toronto and travelling to Liverpool, England to achieve his diploma in tropical medicine.

“From Kindergarten to Grade 12, I was guided and taught by my unique teachers. Without a doubt, they fostered a love of travel, music and knowledge. I can happily thank my teachers for where I am now, and everywhere I will be in the future.”
