Member of the Canadian National Women’s Hockey Team, winning three gold medals and a silver at the Four Nations Cup

Our Lady of the Bay Catholic High School is incredibly proud of the athletic accomplishments of Vicki Bendus. After a successful academic and athletic high school experience at Our Lady of the Bay, Vicki was accepted to Mercyhurst College in Pennsylvania where she earned a degree in biology. But, it was as a member of the women’s hockey program where she really dominated.

Her many hockey accomplishments include Rookie of the Year as a freshman at Mercyhurst and the Patty Kazmaier Award, given to the top player in the women’s NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). She was a member of the Canadian National Women’s Hockey Team, where she helped our country win three gold medals and one silver in the Four Nations Cup.

Vicki is often asked to give motivational speeches to young women athletes where she encourages them to follow their dreams and aspirations.

Vicki had this to say about her time at Our Lady of the Bay, “I’m so grateful to have been at a high school that supported me both academically and athletically. Much of my success is owed to the teachers who challenged me to become a better student, athlete, teammate and community member.”
